Today's hike was led by Kathy Axton. We had 6 new hikers join the group today. Kathy kept everyone guessing about the nature and history of the Massacre Grounds as she related bits and pieces of the text from her "Superstition Wilderness" hiking book. By the end of the day she had us all convinced that she was the reincarnated "Apple Jack" of Massacre Grounds fame.
The trail started out at the Jacob's Crosscut Trailhead parking on First Water and followed a newer section of trail that led to the original trail at the old "off road" parking lot.
